HISTORY
The EPA Association was fundet in Strasbourg in 1983 by Members of the European Parliament with the purpose to create links with all members of national parliaments throughout the European Union.
One of the Founding Fathers of the EPA was Pierre PFLIMLIN, an outstanding European Personality (President of the European Parliament from July 1984 to January 1987).

Successive Presidents of the EPA were:
- Kai-Uwe von HASSEL from 1983 to 1993 (President of the Bundestag from 1969 to 1972)
- Siegbert ALBER from 1993 to 1998 (MEP from 1977 to 1997, Vice-President of the European Parliament from 1984 to 1992, Advocate General at the European Court of Justice from 1997 to 2003)
- Ursula SCHLEICHER from 1998 to 2003 (MEP from 1979 to 2004, Vice-President of the European Parliament from 1994 to 1999)
- Joseph DAUL since 2003 (MEP since 1999)
The EPA in figures
A venue for European meetings
The EPA organizes some 200 to 300 events a year in its Strasbourg premises.
Over the pas ten years, the Association has hosted more than 2,500 events and welcomed more than 100,000 visitors!
The EPA is an essential partner for spreading European ideas, casting bridges between citizens and members of the European Parliament. The Association organized in ten years more than 150 conferences on the subject of Europe.
True diversity among the MEP members
The EPA counts more than 150 members and the membership is constantly increasing! The MEPs members come from all member countries of the European Union and all political parties are represented:
