Welcome

Joseph DAULWelcome to the European Parliamentary Association!

The EPA accomplishes its mission within the European Parliament. It is a place where European delegates have the opportunity to get together to develop not only professional but also personal relations as well as to meet other interlocutors.

Our premises are free of charge for the Members of the EP. In a suitable environment, they offer the possibility to organise activities with committees, political groups, groups of visitors, national delegations and representatives of public life.
In Strasbourg, the EPA has its seat in a beautiful nouveau art building in a short walking distance to the EP and the COE, whereas the “Members’ Bar” in Brussels offers MEPs an environment in which they can exclusively converse amongst themselves.

Furthermore, we organise discussions, informational gatherings and cultural activities in order to promote and to enrich the extra-parliamentary exchange.

All preceding Presidents of the EPA gained honours in European politics:

- Kai-Uwe von HASSEL (President of the German Bundestag from 1969 to 1972)
- Siegbert ALBER (MEP from 1977 to 1997, Vice-President of the EP from 1984 to 1992, Advocate-General at the European Court of Justice from 1997 to 2003)
- Ursula SCHLEICHER (MEP from 1979 to 2004, Vice-President of the EP from 1994 to 1999)

In my capacity as the President, I should like to consolidate and further develop the EPA, the Secretary General of which is Paul CLAD. I am delighted to observe that an increasing number of delegates from the new member states decide to adhere to EPA in order to share and to live conjointly with us the values of Europe.

I would like to encourage my fellow delegates to regularly visit the web site for detailed information on events organised by the EPA and hope that additional information provided on our web site will be of particular interest for the greatest possible number of visitors.

Joseph DAUL, Member of the European Parliament
Chairman of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) and European Democrats
