I. APE – A Place of Encounter

  1. Breakfasts get-togethers each Thursday during the plenary session in Strasbourg :                                                           President DAUL looks forward to welcoming his colleagues members of the EPA each Thursday of the plenary session in Strasbourg either in the form of an informal meeting or in the presence of an external guest speaker.                                The "Events" section provides usefuL informations.
  2. Regulars’ Table (“Stammtisch”): As of 12/02/07, and on proposal by our Vice-President Hans-Peter Mayer, we are organising an informal encounter on Monday evenings from 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m., inviting MEPs, their assistants and interns to a buffet in a friendly atmosphere in our Bar.
  3. In June and July 2010: Screening of the FIFA World Cup matches to which the MEPs of the countries in the running were also invited.
  4. For several years now, the EPA has been involved in the Kolpingwerk International seminar, inviting the 60 participants from diverse countries to a convivial luncheon. The occasion is used to present the activities of the EP and its MEPs.
  5. Concert on 21st September 2010 with the musicians Anna Bon di Venezia Ensemble (Italy). Programme: Vivaldi's Four Seasons.
  6. MEP visitor groups: 230 receptions for groups of visitors were organised in liaison with our members and the EP. MEPs who are not members may also use the EPA's premises but are invited to join our Association to receive priority allocation of rooms. 


II. EPA – A Place of Conference

  1. Organisation of lectures in cooperation with the Institut des Hautes Etudes Européennes (IHEE); subsequently, lecturers and students were invited to attend a reception:
    - 27.01.10: Mrs TULKENS, Judge at the European Court of Human Rights - ECHR - "The relationship between the ECHR and the CJEU"

            - 25.02.10: Mr KOROTEEV - MEMORIAL Association -  "Human rights in Russia"- 

            - 08.03.10: Mr Martin SCHULZ, MEP, Leader of the S&D Group - "The renewal of the European Left"
            - 30.03.10: Participation in the "Academic Forum on Security in Europe - F.A.S.E.  - "Europe and the Middle East -             the EU's time has come?"
             Programme at the EPA:

            . Opening conference: talks by leading figures on the role of the institutions

            . Dinner provided by the EPA attended by the speakers, notabilities and organisers.

  1. III. EPA – A Place of Information

  2. The bulletin "The link of the EPA" was distributed to all MEPs.

  3. Our website is kept up-to-date in three languages:
    - to inform our members of the events organised for them
    - to promote European identity

  4. A system was put in place to answer MEPs' questions relating to social, university and economic structures in the region.


IV. EPA – A Bridge linking the European Parliament, Civil Society and the Public

  1. "Family dinner"
    organised jointly with the Alsace branch of the European Movement (MEA):
    The idea is that a Strasbourg family, in partnership with the MEA, meets an MEP and their assistant(s) for dinner in order to bring MEPs and citizens closer together.

  2. Subsidies granted:
    a. A cheque to the value of Euro 1,500 was granted to the Société des Amis des Universités de l'Académie de Strasbourg (SAUS) in recognition of the excellent work done by the student, Etienne MULLER, on his thesis on "The legal instruments of public-private partnerships".
  3. b. In the framework of the Pierre Pflimlin Award Agreement signed in 2008 with the RETE-IHEE - Institut des Hautes Etudes Européennes - Students' Association, a total amount of Euro 1,900 was awarded to Miss Laura GRADINARIU selected by an ad-hoc Scientific University Board on which the EPA has a consultative seat. The subject of the dissertation presented on 21 October this year at the EPA to an audience of MEPs and European officials, academics and students was "The economic crisis - a new vector for European Integration?". The scholarship 2010/2011 has been awarded to Miss Alina LUPU. Subject of the dissertation: "The European Union and the geopolitical issues of migration". 

V. EPA – Diverse Activities

  1. The appeal for membership fee was sent to the MEPs. The amount of 50 € gives priority allocation of rooms and the possibility to attend all the events organised by the EPA (breakfasts, lecturers, concerts,...).

  2. 11.03.10: The Executive Committee and subsequently the General Assembly convened.
